Reinforcing its commitment to sports and wellness, PGA Riviera Maya hosted the fifth stage of the 2026 Quintana Roo State Junior Golf Tour on Sunday, June 21. The tournament was organized by the Sports Institute of the Municipality of Benito Juárez.
Located within Tulum Country Club, PGA Riviera Maya was named Mexico’s Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards in both 2024 and 2025. The course welcomed dozens of young golfers from across the state, highlighting its role in developing the next generation of players.
Junior Golf Takes Center Stage at PGA Riviera Maya
The Quintana Roo State Junior Golf Tour is the state’s leading junior golf circuit. Throughout the season, young athletes compete at different courses across Quintana Roo.
This fifth stage brought together players between 7 and 18 years old. Competitors played in boys’ and girls’ divisions, with A and B flights based on skill level.
In addition, many participants enjoyed a unique opportunity. They competed on a course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, home of the Korn Ferry Tour and the only PGA of America-affiliated golf course in Mexico. As a result, they experienced the same fairways where professionals compete for a PGA TOUR card.
Tournament Results
The event produced outstanding performances across every division.
In the 16–18 Boys category, Ivo Larios González posted the day’s best score with an 85.
Meanwhile, Diego Castillo led Flight A in the 14–15 Boys division with 157.75 accumulated points, while Daniel Horsman finished first in Flight B.
Likewise, Hector Garcia and Ricardo Lopez topped their respective flights in the 12–13 Boys category.
On the girls’ side, Carla Violeta Morales Pamplona won the 16–18 Girls division with a score of 86. María Isabel Pacheco claimed first place in the 14–15 Girls category.
Among the younger players, Emma Leal delivered a standout performance in 10–11 Girls, while Sofia Mendoza led the 8–9 Girls division.
Noemie Chetzroni Says Goodbye to Her Home Course
Beyond the competition, one story made the day especially memorable.
Noemie Chetzroni, a resident of Tulum Country Club, played her final tournament at PGA Riviera Maya before beginning her collegiate golf career at Cameron University in Oklahoma this August.
For Noemie, PGA Riviera Maya represents much more than a tournament venue. It is the course where she developed her game and grew as a golfer.
She closed her final appearance with the best score in her division, an impressive 82.
To mark the occasion, the Tulum Country Club community gathered at the first tee to celebrate her final round and wish her success in this exciting new chapter.
PGA Golf Academy Continues to Develop Future Golfers
Hosting the State Tour reflects Tulum Country Club’s long-term commitment to growing the game.
At the heart of that effort is the PGA Golf Academy, located at PGA Riviera Maya and led by Ryan Canipe, a PGA of America Certified Golf Professional.
The academy offers programs for every skill level, from beginners to competitive players. Additionally, it welcomes golfers of all ages who want to learn, improve, and enjoy the sport.
Looking Ahead to the Season Finale
The Quintana Roo State Junior Golf Tour concludes on July 5 with its sixth and final stage.
Until then, young golfers across the state will continue competing for top honors. After an unforgettable stop at PGA Riviera Maya, the season is set for an exciting finish.
